DEDAL-2025

Differential Equations and Data Analysis, Lviv, 2025

Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in cooperation with Pidstryhach Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics and Lviv Polytechnic National University is going to organize Scientific Conference “Differential Equations and Data Analysis” dedicated to the 5th anniversary of Department of Mathematical Statistics and Differential Equations, May 8 – 9, 2025 in Lviv, Ukraine.

Mathematical models of various physical, biological, and social processes often include differential equations.
ODEs and PDEs theory is under intense development, with its results constantly being applied to new facets of human activity. These activities constantly produce a constantly increasing volume of data, that are analysed and processed with methods of Statistics – alternatively knowns as “Data Analysis” or “Data Science”.

With increasing availability of computational resources, Data Science has recently been growing in popularity. In turn, statistical pattern recognition is often aided by artificial intelligence, specficially neural networks. Training of complex neural networks with multiple hidden layers becomes analogous to the proof of the Peano existence theorem for ODEs. We thus arrive at so called Continuous Time Neural Networks (CTNNs), that are often applied to image analysis.

Our conference is an attempt at drawing connections between classical differential equations theory, mathematical statistics, and modern information technologies, in relation to mathematical modelling and data analysis.

Conference Format

The conference will be a hybrid event, with mixed online/offline meetings. The offline part of the conference will take place in the main building of the Lviv University at Universytetska Str., 1, Lviv, Ukraine. Conference will be split into the following sections:
